How to make the most of your priorities

by Brian on

Hi there. Today I will like to share with you the wisom of Ivy Lee. If you are a person who doesn’t really have a good system in place for getting things done then I am sure you will enjoy this post.

Charles Schwab was the chairman of the Bethlehem Steel and he was a very important man who did not really have a lot of free time cause he was very busy seeing about the affairs of the company.

Now one day a business consultant by the name of Ivy Lee came up to him and said that he had a plan that if Mr. Schwab used it, would greatly increase his productivity.

Now Mr. Schwab had heard of all the strategies to increase productivity before so he wasn’t going to be fooled by this man. However Ivy Lee made a proposition. He said that he will give him the strategy for him to use and then only after using the strategy he should pay him how much he thinks that strategy is worth.

Now Charles did not have a problem with this since all the risk was on Mr. Lee’s part. Ivy Lee handed him the strategy and he used it in Bethlehem Steel. Several weeks later, Ivy Lee received a check for $25,000.

Now I am sure that right now you are probably wondering what it could be that could be worth so much money. Let us call it the success six.

This was what Ivy Lee handed him on paper

  1. Write down 6 things you need to do tomorrow and number them 1 to 6.
  2. Take that list and arrange it in order of importance
  3. When you start the day begin the first task and don’t do any other task until you have finished the one above it.
  4. Work on down the list and when the list is through prepare another list for the next day
  5. Do this every day and after doing it share it with your people

Now that was the advice that Mr. Charles Schwab paid $25,000 for. Why not try it in your life? Why not try it and see if it helps you life in any way.
