How to ensure you never achieve your goals

by Brian on

Ok my friends. I have a quick question to ask you. Have you ever set a goal and did not achieve it? Really think about that. Have you ever set a goal and did not achieve it? I am sure you must have. I know you must have. Many people write down all their goals and yet for some reason or the other never achieve them? Why is this? Why is it that some people can set goals and achieve almost all of them, while others set goals and achieve only a few of them?

I will give you the answer to that question in a few minutes so just hold on and continue to read the rest of this post! There are many people in this world whose main goal is to lose weight. I am sure you know someone like that. Yet for some reason or the other they start going from one diet program to the next and then every time they fail to lose weight they blame the diet program or their mentor or someone. Most of these people who fail in this way did not even follow the program or their mentors instruction fully. In fact the main reason why they did not achieve their goal is that they weren’t willing to do what it takes!!! Did you hear what I just said? Let me put it in a different way! They weren’t willing to pay the price!!!

Anything you are trying to achieve in life has a price attached to it and if you are not willing to pay the price you will not be able to achieve it. What you need to do is to learn to count the cost first before making a decision to achieve a certain goal. I want you to read that last sentence again because if you allow that to sink in to your mind, it will save you countless time, energy and money.

You need to ask yourself what is the cost involved in achieving such a goal. If you dream to be a doctor then you must be willing to pay the price of years of study as well as years without much freedom to do what you want to do. If you’re not willing to do that then do not set out to be a doctor. You will fail at it I guarantee you. Every time you fail at achieving your goals it affects your self esteem and it prevents you from moving forward and trying to set new goals.

So here’s what I want you to do. Every time you think about going after a particular goal, find out what the cost is to achieve such a goal. Only after you find this out should you decide whether you are willing to set such a goal or not.

If you do this for each goal I am sure, you will say no to the goals that do not really deserve your attention and you will say yes to the ones that do. This will save you many years of frustration if you do this.
