Anyone ever told you to just be yourself?

Good day and hope all is well with you and yours!!!

Today I want to share a controversial post with you!!!

I am sure many of you have heard the phrase ‘be yourself’. I have heard it many times. You should just ‘be yourself’. Stop trying to be something you’re not!!!

Have you heard the phrase before? I am sure you have heard the phrase before but let me share something that may see controversial to you?

Telling certain people to just ‘be yourself’ is like one of the worst advice you can give to them!!!!

Now what do I mean by this statement? I know you have heard it time and time again and you have believed it. But let me share it with you in a different light.

How to overcome your fears

Someone once said that ‘courage is not the absense of fear but the judgement that what you want is more important than your fear’

Now what does the author mean by such a statement.

Now how many of us have been procrastinating on doing something that we know we should be doing but fear has kept us back.

FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) is all just a state of mind but it is one of the greatest killers to a man going after his dreams.

When the author speaks about judgement he is saying that the judgment of one day not having enough money to take care of his sick mother is more important than the fear of not making 1 sale if he is an insurance worker etc.

We can learn from his same example. What is it you fear right now and what is the judgement associated with that fear.

Perhaps you have an interview tomorrow and you are scared that you will make a fool of yourself but the judgement could be that you need a job desperately or else your sick child could die and thus you will try your very hardest to ace that interview and forget the fear because the judgement is more important than your fear.

Do you get what I am saying. Here is what I want you do.

List out the things you should be doing each day but have not done it due to fear.
Write out what is the judgement associated with that fear.

Would you allow the fear to dictate your life from now on or the judgement? That is something only you can decide.

Would you get angry at me for doing this?

Hello all,

Hope you all are having a fired up week. I want to ask you a simple question. Tell me if you will get angry at me if I do this to you.

Imagine you are home and your are watching tv or listening to music or just simply taking a rest or something like that.

In walks me, and I have a pile of garbage in my hand and I just dump it into your living room. Then I go outside and I bring back more garbage and dump it in your home. How would you feel? I am guessing that you will be angry at me won’t you. I should keep my garbage to myself.

Here is the ironic thing. We will not allow people to come into our homes and pour garbage but yet we will allow our homes to be fed with the garbage of news that is mostly negative each night (CNN — Constant Negative News), we allow some filthy shows to be poured into our minds and filthy music as well. Some of these things are worse than garbage and we allow these things into our minds.

My friends we need to be careful of all these garbage out there that we are allowing to seep into our minds and cause us to accept them. These garbage must be kept out at all costs. The news isn’t going to put money in your pocket, it is not going to help you to grow as an individual, these music that we allow to be played is going to wreak havoc in your homes and in your child’s lives.

Let us learn to be very careful as to the type of media we allow to be shared in our homes and in our lives and put a stop to all of these garbage.

4 Ways to increase your learning

Hi how are you doing this Christmas time.

I hope you had a great Christmas and you are prepared to learn a lot more this coming new year.

Today I want to share 4 ways to increase your learning.

Learn while you commute — We spend most of our time driving or travelling each and every day to work or some other place. Why not take that time and turn into a time of productivity. Brian Tracy calls it University on Wheels. Get yourself some good audio tapes from Nightingale Conant or Jim Rohn.com. Instead of listening to music start listening to motivation.
Start reading - Jim Rohn says that everything that you need to learn has been written in a book for you to glean its ideas from. Get that book. Reading is one of the greatest investments you can make into your future. I remember when I finished school there were lots of things I never knew about and books were the source that taught me things that I never learnt in school.
Teach people what you know — When you learn something you should make it a habit to teach someone what your just learnt. When you do this you get to understand it more and also it pushes you to become a master at your craft. If you teach 1 thing to 10 different people the advantage to you is that they get to hear it once but you get to hear it 10 times.
Practice - After you have learnt, start putting it into practice. You have got to take action on the things that you learn. Don’t just read and say that it sounds good. Start putting it into practice.

There is a story about the greek philosopher Socrates. One day a fellow came to him and asked him how he could find wisdom just as Socrates had.

Socrates took the guy to a river and he told him to walk in with him. When they were getting deeper and deeper into the water Socrates grabbed the guy by his neck and he held him under water for a little while.

The guy came out gasping and screaming and wondering why Socrates had almost killed him.

Thinking “Out of the Box”

Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant’s beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant’ debt if he could marry the merchant’s daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. The cunning money lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.

The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

Now, imagine you were standing in the merchant’s garden. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking. The girl’s dilemma cannot be solved with traditional logical thinking.

Think of the consequences if she chooses the logical answers.

What would you recommend the girl do?

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.”

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.

I heard this story from Og Mandino and I thought I will share it with you. This is a very inspiring story.

Back in the fifteenth century, in a tiny village near Nuremberg, lived a family with eighteen children. Eighteen!In order merely to keep food on the table for this big family, the father and head of the household, a goldsmith by profession, worked almost eighteen hours a day at his trade and any other paying chore he could find in the neighbourhood.

Despite their seemingly hopeless condition, two of Albrecht Durer the Elder’s children had a dream. They both wanted to pursue their talent for art, but they knew full well that their father would never be financially able to send either of them to Nuremberg to study at the Academy.

After many long discussions at night in their crowded bed, the two boys finally worked out a pact. They would toss a coin. The loser would go down into the nearby mines and, with his earnings, support his brother while he attended the academy. Then, when that brother who won the toss completed his studies, in four years, he would support the other brother at the academy, either with sales of his artwork or, if necessary, also by labouring in the mines.

They tossed a coin on a Sunday morning after church. Albrecht Durer won the toss and went off to Nuremberg.

Albert went down into the dangerous mines and, for the next four years, financed his brother, whose work at the academy was almost an immediate sensation. Albrecht’s etchings, his woodcuts, and his oils were far better than those of most of his professors, and by the time he graduated, he was beginning to earn considerable fees for his commissioned works.

When the young artist returned to his village, the Durer family held a festive dinner on their lawn to celebrate Albrecht’s triumphant homecoming. After a long and memorable meal, punctuated with music and laughter, Albrecht rose from his honoured position at the head of the table to drink a toast to his beloved brother for the years of sacrifice that had enabled Albrecht to fulfil his ambition. His closing words were, “And now, Albert, blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to Nuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you.”

All heads turned in eager expectation to the far end of the table where Albert sat, tears streaming down his pale face, shaking his lowered head from side to side while he sobbed and repeated, over and over, “No …no …no …no.”

Finally, Albert rose and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He glanced down the long table at the faces he loved, and then, holding his hands close to his right cheek, he said softly, “No, brother. I cannot go to Nuremberg. It is too late for me. Look … look what four years in the mines have done to my hands! The bones in every finger have been smashed at least once, and lately I have been suffering from arthritis so badly in my right hand that I cannot even hold a glass to return your toast, much less make delicate lines on parchment or canvas with a pen or a brush. No, brother … for me it is too late.”

More than 450 years have passed. By now, Albrecht Durer’s hundreds of masterful portraits, pen and silver point sketches, water-colours, charcoals, woodcuts, and copper engravings hang in every great museum in the world, but the odds are great that you, like most people, are familiar with only one of Albrecht Durer’s works. More than merely being familiar with it, you very well may have a reproduction hanging in your home or office.

One day, to pay homage to Albert for all that he had sacrificed, Albrecht Durer painstakingly drew his brother’s abused hands with palms together and thin fingers stretched skyward. He called his powerful drawing simply “Hands,” but the entire world almost immediately opened their hearts to his great masterpiece and renamed his tribute of love “The Praying Hands.”

The next time you see a copy of that touching creation, take a second look. Let it be your reminder, if you still need one, that no one — no one — - ever makes it alone!

Does Think and Grow Rich work?

Let me be honest with you. I am sure that many of you have read this book by Napoleon Hill. It is probably regarded by many as the Number 1 book in self help however there are many people who believe that it does not work. They say that most people who have read it have never become rich so that means it does not work.

Now in my opinion if someone reads a book and it does not change their life that does not necessarily mean that the book is flawed nor does it stop it from being effective. It could be that the person is in a stage of their life where they are not ready to digest such information.

Also in this book it is more than just money but it is about principles that can help you achieve anything you want if you are willing to follow through.

Just because many people read the Bible and it does not change the way they live that does not stop it from being effective. Think and grow rich even though I may not agree with everything in the book, I believe that most of those principles if we really apply them to our lives can really change the way we live our lives and it can make a huge difference in achieving our goals or not.

So what do you think? Does Think and Grow Rich work. Most people have used the principles in think and grow rich without even reading the book. Some have acquired like myself degrees in computing, some have built a business, some have attracted their lover.

Hi there. So I am taking it for granted that you looked at the portion of video from Kung Fu Panda.

Let me tell you what we can learn from the Kung Fu Panda. If you learn what it is I am about to tell you, you can become a really great person, all your friends will begin to wish they were like you and you will be a great role model to your community, your children and to everyone you come in contact with.

The Kung Fu Panda stated that he got sick and tired of everyday of his life just being himself. Almost everyone today says something like I want people to like me for ‘me’. I want them to accept me for ‘me’. But here is the thing, we need people who will see that we have potential and we shouldn’t just be settling for who we are now but they see that we are capable of being someone much better than who we are right now.

The Panda realized this and he knew that he had the ability of being more than just a panda but he could become a Kung Fu Panda!!!!

I’m telling you right now that you have greatness inside of you, you are more than able to achieve greatness in your life but in order to achieve such greatness you will have to do things you have never done and in order to do things you have never done, you have to become someone you have never been.

Think about that right now. You should not settle for being just you but look at becoming the best you possible and it can start today. Right now, wherever you are at in your life, ask yourself who do I need to be to get what I want and then start to be that person.

You may need to read different books, listen to different cd’s, change how you spend your time but if you will do this, you will be much better than who you are right now.

Socrates Test of three

We live in a world where everyone likes to gossip. They like to spread rumors even if they aren’t sure how true it is. We tend to enjoy making other people look bad. What you are about to read is Socrates test of three and you should apply it in your life anytime you think of spreading rumors about other people.

This is very important for you to learn because it can save you embarrasment when you realise that what you were saying was false and also it will help you to maintain your integrity as an individual. Here is the story of Socrates Test of three.

In ancient Greece (469 — 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, “Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?”

“Wait a moment,” Socrates replied. “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Test of Three.”

“Test of Three?”

“That’s right,” Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my student let’s take a moment to test what you’re going to say. The first test is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

No,” the man said, “actually I just heard about It.”

“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?”

“No, on the contrary…”

“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him even though you’re not certain it’s true?”

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, b ecause there is a third test — the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really.”

“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?”

The man was defeated and ashamed. This is the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

Why not apply this test of three in your life and see what difference it makes. I look forward to your feedback

Have you found your why?

Hello there. Today I will like to share with you briefly on why many people never achieve their goals. The reason is because they have not found their why.

This is a concept I learnt from John Di Lemme and it is very important that you find your why!!!

Now what do I mean by finding your why? There is a saying that says he who has a strong why can bare almost any how!!!

What I am trying to say is that the reason why most people never achieve their goals is because they don’t have enough reasons as to why they need to achieve their goals. That is their why!!! If we have enough reasons why we want to achieve it and they are strong we will go after the things we want without worrying about failure.

How many times have you started something and stopped when you met the first sign of failure. It was because you did not have a strong enough why. If you focus on the process you will be discouraged but if you focus on the benefits you will be able to achieve your goals.

The people who achieve greatly are those who focus on the ‘why’ and not on the ‘how’.

Here is your homework for today.

1. Make a list of everything you want to achieve.

2. Write all the reasons why you want to achieve those things.

3. Take a look at the reasons why everyday especially when you feel like giving up.

This exercise will help you decide whether something is worth pursuing or not. Many times you will realise that you are going after things that you don’t really care too much about and you shouldn’t waste your time on those things.

If you look at this couple you can see how excited they are. They found their why. They even make the shape of a Y as well. Their why must have been to have a great relationship together and they are having that right now by the beach.

Go after the things that you have a strong why for. This is one of the great benefits of finding your why!!!

Hi there. Today I will like to talk on the greatest power that everyone possesses right now. If you can truly grasp the meaning of this concept your life will be totally transformed and you can achieve and become almost anything you want to become.

Now what can be this power that everyone possess? Is there really such a power? I assure you that there is such a power. I don’t care if you are fat, thin, black, white, smart, dumb, deaf etc. Every human being possesses this power.

Ok I know that right now you are probably very curious as to what I mean. With this power you can be the smartest person on the earth or not, you can be the wealthiest person on the earth or not. You can be the happiest person on the earth or not.

Ok, enough Brian what is this power you are talking about!!!

The greatest power that every human possesses is the POWER OF CHOICE!!!

Yes, that’s right. All of us have the ability to choose to do something or not do something. If someone insults us we have the power to choose to be angry at them or not to be angry at them. IF we are hungry we have the power to choose to eat something or not to eat something.

If we want to live a healthy life we can choose to eat properly or not eat properly. If we aren’t living the life we want to live right now, we have the power to choose right now to take steps to make out life better whether it be by attending a gym, reading a book, taking a class, talking to someone close to us.…

Oh we have such a tremendous power in our hands that we take for granted. If we as humans can really grasp this simple concept that our life is really a product of the choices we have made, we will choose to make different choices right now…

This is the greatest power that every human being possesses and that is the power to choose.

So here’s what I want you to do right now.

1. Think about some areas in your life right now that aren’t where you want it to be.

2. Now list the choices that you have made in that area. It will usually be bad choices

3. Now right down what you can choose to do in those areas to make it better.

4. Then start doing those things

Remember that right now you can choose to do this exercise or not. You can choose to become a better person or not because at the end of the day the greatest power that a human being possesses is the power of choice!!!

How reading can change your life

There is a saying that says that ‘Leaders are readers’. I am sure you have probably heard that and I believe it is true.

I want to ask you a simple question. Do you read? What’s your response. Most people today do not like to read. We spend all our time watching tv, listening to music and going on facebook that we refuse to read but I want to let you know that reading can change your life.

If your answer was yes to the last question then I have another question for you. What do you read? It was Mark Twain who said that ‘he who doesn’t read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.’ Now there are lots of people who read and love to read and while that is commendable I want to let you know that what you read is also important to changing your life.

You see many people read the newspapers, read a magazine, read a novel, a story book and there is nothing really wrong with reading such things but I believe that the best books to read are books that can help you to change your life around by changing the way you think. This can fall into the category of how to books, self help, spirituality, financial, business etc.

Now I am not saying not to read novels or other such books but I believe that you should in addition to reading such books, read books that can help change your life around. Some books I’ll recommend are the bible, Think and Grow Rich, Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Richest Man in Babylon, How to win friends and influence people.

These are just a handful to get you started. I grew up reading story books like Enid Blyton and I still love those books but I have learnt a lot from reading some of those other books that I mentioned before.

Charlie tremendous Jones said that 5 years from now your life will be the same except for 2 things the books you read and the people you meet.

Start reading a few pages each day and have a journal and pen with you and see your life change for the best.

Good day my fellow readers. How are you doing today. I hope all is well with you today. So what are you doing right now to change the world? Has someone ever asked you such a question? If they have, then congratulations. You have some cool friends!

So I ask once again. What are you doing to change the world? Some people may reply that it is impossible for one person to change the world or the world doesn’t want to be changed or no one can change the world!!! But I’ll ask still one more time. What are you doing to change the world?

I was looking at this movie recently called Pay it Forward and you will see the trailer for it at the bottom of this post and it asks the question what are we doing to change the world?

So how can we change the world? How can I a mere human being living in a small Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago change the world? Well I can change the world by ‘paying it forward.’ Now what do I mean by that statement?

Well every human being has two needs that I will like to share today and I must give credit to my mentor John Maxwell for this. We have the need :-

For help and
To help

That’s right. No one is so gifted that they can do everything and no one is so ‘ungifted’ that they can’t do anything!!! We all need help and we all should desire to help others.

A simple act of kindness on your part is your way of paying it forward; it’s your way of returning the help you got from someone else. By using your gifts and talents and opportunities that come your way each day to help someone who cannot help themselves that is your way of changing the world.

If you do one good thing each day for one person you would have played a part in changing 365 people in this world and if they in turn touch someone else who then touches others we all be playing a massive part in changing the world.

The world is calling for you, the world needs you and it wants what you can offer to it to make it a better place. So once again, what are you doing to change the world?

Making Each Day Count

Okay in today’s post I will like to talk to you on the importance of ‘Today’. Dr. John Maxwell wrote a book called Today Matters and if you do not have a copy of that book I strongly recommend that you get it because he shares a lot of wisdom you can apply in your daily life in order to achieve success tomorrow.

You see if we want to achieve success tomorrow, we need to take action today because what we do today is what will determine what happens tomorrow. Someone once said that yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift which is why we call it the present! So what are you doing with ‘Today’.

Are you using it wisely or just going with the flow? Just allowing time to just fly by and take its course on its own. We need to use today wisely. Anyone who wants to achieve anything tomorrow will have to use the days before the tomorrow to achieve the results. We look at those Olympic Athletes that take the stage every 4 years and when we see a Usain Bolt or other great athlete, we wonder how they got so strong.

It’s all because they took advantage of today!! For years upon years they have been training and practising each day for the olympics and they had to make each day count in order to become as good as they are. That’s why they become so great. It’s not because of talent or ability but it’s because of dedication to a cause that needs to be prepared for each and every day and they needed to make each day count. We see the glory but we don’t know the story!!!

If someone takes an axe and just strikes it 5 times each day on a tree, it will eventually fall down. The day that it falls down is not the greatest day but it was the combination of striking the tree 5 times each day that cause it to tumble down!!

So my question to you is what are you doing with ‘Today’. Are you using it wisely? Remember that Today Matters and if you want to be successful start taking action today and each day after that and in due season your ‘harvest time’ will appear and everyone will be asking themselves how did you get to become so great and you will just simply reply that ‘Today Matters’!!!

What is Love?

Ok today I have a really serious post that I want to talk about. It is on the concept of love. How do you know when someone really loves you? I am not talking about boyfriend-girlfriend love. I am talking love of each other in general because many people do say they love you but when put to the test they sure fail the love test.

Now tell me what exactly is love? How do you know if someone really loves you? When I look at society today I see an absense of real love!!! Everyone says they love you, they are your best friend but at the times when you need them most they betray that love!!!

I am a Christian and I live by that standard but I see a lot of people in churches and other religious institutions who fail the love test when put to the test. Now what exactly is this love test I am talking about???

I am talking about the ability to love someone unconditionally!!! If I call you friend then I should love you ‘no matter what’!!! What do I mean by that statement?

Let me give you some examples to illustrate the point. If I am your parent and you are my child and you are an A Student and you continue to do well in school and I am always boasting in you and letting you know how much I love you etc. What happens if your grades begin to drop? Do I stop loving you? For some parents that is the impression they give their children?

If I am a church member and the whole of our faith is centered around love, how do I react to a fellow church member who gets caught in sin. Do I stop loving them and calling them my brother? If I do then my whole religion was in vain and I am a fake!!!

You need to love the child whether they are passing their exams or not, whether they are on drugs or not, whatever the reason I believe Love that is Unconditional will conquer everything else. Ancient wisdom says to hate sin but love the sinner!!!

I will really like to hear your comments on this post!! What is real love and is it demonstrated today and most importantly do you demonstrate it!!!

What can a turtle on a fence teach you about success?

Have you ever achieved something in your life? Something worthwhile? Something that took a lot of hard work to accomplish but you did it? I am sure that everyone reading this has achieved something worthwhile.

It probably could be making it into a band, learning to play the guitar, achieving your degree, getting married etc. I am sure there are millions of other examples I can list here. Now you are probably wondering what does achieving all these things have to do with a turtle on a fence and the answer is ‘Everything!!!’

I remember sometime aback I was reading a book by John Maxwell and he shared this story which I am about to share with you and I hope you get to understand the moral of the story. I will tell the story in my own words.

There was a very successful and rich business man in a certain part of America. Now this man had made it through very hard times to get to where he was at right now and everyone admired him for how successful he was. Any conference or any speaking engagement he went to, he will always be the talk of the town after he had left. Everyone admired him and wanted to be like him.

Now in his office where he worked he had a picture of a turtle on a fence and once you entered his office there was no way that picture could have escaped your eye. Every time people saw the picture they would ask him what was the significance of that picture. He would then look at them and this is what he would say.

“In order for a turtle to make it on to a fence it would mean that someone would have to take the turtle and place him on that fence. There is no way a turtle can make it on to a fence by himself; he needs to get help in order to make it there. Every time I look at that picture it helps me to put things into perspective. I begin to remember that just like that turtle I did not make it to where I am today without the help of other people!!!”

Did you understand the moral of that story? No matter what we have achieved in our life, we need to be grateful for the people who helped us to get to where we are in life. We did not make it on our own. Don’t forget to thank all those people who helped you to reach where you are today.

Just remember there is no such thing as a self made man because NO ONE MAKES IT ALONE!!!

Today’s post I will like to tell a joke that I heard a while back but it has tremendous value in it? So without further ado let me tell you the story of the leopard, the dog and the monkey.

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet dog along for company. One day the dog starts chasing butterflies and before long he discovers that he is lost. So, wandering about he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch.

The dog thinks, “Boy, I’m in deep doo doo now.”

Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.

Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dog exclaims loudly, “Man, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here?”

Hearing this the leopard halts his attack in mid stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees. “Whew”, says the leopard. “That was close. That dog nearly had me.”

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes.

But the dog saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.

The cat is furious at being made a fool of and says, “Here monkey, hop on my back and see what’s going to happen to that conniving canine.”

Now the dog sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks,” What am I going to do now?”

But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers pretending he hasn’t seen them yet.

And just when they get close enough to hear, the dog says, “Where’s that monkey. I just can never trust him. I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard, and he’s still not back!!”

Ok so what can we learn from the story? We see the importance of filtering what people are saying to us! If we believe everything people are saying about us, it can have serious consequences in the way we decide to live our life. That leopard could have eaten that dog so easily if he had only learnt to think for himself. Another thing we can learn from this story is that not everyone who comes to tell us something good may have the right intention as well!! The monkey went to talk to the leopard primarily so that he can be saved from the leopard! He wasn’t concerned about the leopard, all he was concerned about was not being eaten by the leopard! It’s the same way with people. Some of us may have friends or associates who may appear to be really nice to us but we aren’t sure what there true intentions are!!!

We need to be careful of the voices that we allow to enter our mind. One of my mentors said that you can’t stop the birds from flying over your head but you sure can stop them from building a nest there!! What he meant by that is that you can’t stop people from speaking about you but you do have the power to decide whether you allow what is being said about you to impact you or distract you from what it is you are trying to achieve!!! So my question to you is whose voice are you listening to?
