Someone once said that ‘courage is not the absense of fear but the judgement that what you want is more important than your fear’

Now what does the author mean by such a statement.

Now how many of us have been procrastinating on doing something that we know we should be doing but fear has kept us back.

FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) is all just a state of mind but it is one of the greatest killers to a man going after his dreams.

When the author speaks about judgement he is saying that the judgment of one day not having enough money to take care of his sick mother is more important than the fear of not making 1 sale if he is an insurance worker etc.

We can learn from his same example. What is it you fear right now and what is the judgement associated with that fear.

Perhaps you have an interview tomorrow and you are scared that you will make a fool of yourself but the judgement could be that you need a job desperately or else your sick child could die and thus you will try your very hardest to ace that interview and forget the fear because the judgement is more important than your fear.

Do you get what I am saying. Here is what I want you do.

List out the things you should be doing each day but have not done it due to fear.
Write out what is the judgement associated with that fear.

Would you allow the fear to dictate your life from now on or the judgement? That is something only you can decide.

Hi there.

There is a story about the greek philosopher Socrates. One day a fellow came to him and asked him how he could find wisdom just as Socrates had.

Socrates took the guy to a river and he told him to walk in with him. When they were getting deeper and deeper into the water Socrates grabbed the guy by his neck and he held him under water for a little while.

The guy came out gasping and screaming and wondering why Socrates had almost killed him.

Why being selfish can be a good thing

Hi there. I know that title would have got you to read this post and I want to explain myself and what I mean.

You know if you ask many people today what they would like to do or become one day and the typical answer is that I want to help people. I want to make a difference in the lives of others.

These are really noble goals and I salute people who think like this. However let me share with you a concept I learnt from really successful people like John Maxwell and Mike Litman.

You need to become selfish in order to become generous.

Now I know that right now you are probably thinking I am going crazy to say something like this but let me explain myself.

If you want to help people, if you want to make a difference you need to first start with yourself.

In an airplane they tell you to put on your masks first and then put it on for your children.

They are not asking you to be selfish but they don’t want you to pass out when putting on the masks for your children.

This is what I mean. Success begins with you. You need to start with yourself first and then focus on others.

If you want to give lots of money to charity then you need to first be making lots of money to give away. If you want to help people who are sick then you need to spend years focusing on your books and then you will be able to focus on helping others.

You see, it all begins with you. You have to do things that may separate you from the people you want to help but in the long run you as well as them will benefit a lot from you absense.

A father may need to spend a few years studying in order to get the job he needs but when he gets the job, he can now give more to his family and spend more time with them than when he was away.

So my question to you is what are doing today to improve yourself so that you can focus on others and make a difference in their lives.

The Most Important person you will ever meet

I have an interesting story to tell in this post. I heard this story from Napoleon Hill and I just thought I would share it with you.

A certain tramp came to Napoleon Hill for advice. As he came to Hill he talked about all the wrong that was happening in his life and how his life had been such a mess and how he really needed someone to help him get his life back together. Here is what Napoleon Hill told the man and I quote

‘‘I have listened to your story with a great deal of interest,
and I wish I could do something for you, but there is absolutely
nothing that I can do.’’
Iwatched him for a fewseconds. Heturned white and looked as if he
were about to faint. Then I said, ‘‘But, there is a man in this building to
whomI will introduce you, and that man can put you back on your feet
in less than six months if you will rely upon him.’’ He stopped me and
said, ‘‘For God’s sake, lead me to him.’’ I took him out into my
laboratory and stood him in front of what looked to be a curtain over a
door. I reached over and pulled the curtain aside, and he stood face to
face with the person to whom I had promised to introduce him,
looking himself squarely in the face, in a tall looking glass.
I pointed my finger at the glass and said, ‘‘There is the only person
on earth who can help you, sir; and unless you sit down and become
acquainted with the strength back of that personality, you might just
as well go ahead and ‘punch a hole in Lake Michigan’ because you will
be no good to yourself or to anyone else.’’

Now those words that Napoleon told the man changed his life around. He finally realised that the problem was not the world, his neighbours, the government, the stock market etc. The problem was him and if he made a decision to change his destiny at this moment then he could change it.

We all need to stop blaming everyone else for how our life is turning out and try to look the man in the mirror and tell him that in no uncertain terms are we going to allow who we are right now to stop us from being all we are destined to be.

Stop playing the blame game and decide today to take responsibility for your own life!!!

How to count your blessings

Hello there. How are you today. I hope all is well with you. Today I want to share with you a simple concept to overcome worry in your life.

A few days ago I found myself doing one of the worst things that we as human beings tend to do and that is focusing on what we don’t have. You see I saw someone or should I say a group of people with something that I always wanted but for the time being I have never been able to acquire it as yet. It is too personal for me to reveal right now but I found myself being very concerned and even feeling a little down because of not having it.

Anyway as I was going through the day I saw somethings that made me have a very different perspective on my problem. I saw a woman who had to be carried by a man because she had trouble walking, I met a girl who was very young and has been continually sick for years now and doctors can’t seem to cure her.

I began to realise just how great my life is and that there are people out there who will do anything to trade places with me and to have my problems to be there biggest problems.

I am sure that some of you are like that too. I read this quote in a Dale Carnegie book that said

‘I had the blues cause I had no shoes,

When upon the street I saw a man who had no feet.’

Dale Carnegie went on to say that about 90 percent of the things in our lives are right and about 10 percent are wrong. If we want to be happy, all we have to do is to focus on the 9o percent that are right and ignore the 10 percent that are wrong. If we want to be worried and bitter and have stomach ulcers, all we have to do is focus on the 10 percent that are wrong and ignore the 90 percent that are glorious.

I want you to right now take out a sheet of paper and spend about 15 minutes writing everything you are thankful for. When you do this exercise you will realise just how blessed you are and it will be foolishness to continue to dwell on what you don’t have.

So start counting your blessings today. Don’t think your blessings don’t count!!!

Have you ever heard such a saying? ‘Your attitude determines your altitude?’ That is so true and if we are willing to take that saying seriously it will help us a whole lot to move even further in our life and achieve greater things than we have ever achieved!!!

There are lots of things that we do not have control over but we do have control over our response to those things. I remember watching the FIFA World Cup 2006 final between Italy and France and we saw a perfect example of attitude being displayed. One Italian seemed to insult one of the French and then the Frenchman headbutted the Italian causing himself to be sent off the game and possibly costing his side the World Cup. What makes it bad is that this Frenchman was a Legend in the game of Football and this was his last game and this is how he will be remembered!!!

I am sure that you have witnessed many times in your life how attitude determines altitude. Someone once said that it’s not what happens to us that is important but what we do or how we respond to what happens to us that makes all the difference!!!

One man says ‘I am not giving any money to that bum cause he probably has a lot of other money that he begged for throughout the day,’ while another man freely gives him the money knowing that he has done a good turn for that day.

To be successful you need to have a success attitude and to be unsuccessful you need a negative attitude. One person goes to a job and says ‘I hate the boss, I hate the people, I hate the work, it all stinks!!!’ while another person says that even though they may not like the way the boss operates they have money coming in each month, they live close to their workplace, they get a pension plan etc.

The same situation but different attitudes. Your attitude determines your altitude!!! I want to encourage you to work on your attitude. The greatest part of our happiness depends not on our positions but our dispositions!!!

Do you have these kind of people in your life?

Have you ever had big dreams or plans that you plan to do or accomplish some time in your life but you failed to accomplish them because of what somebody who is important to you said because they didn’t want you to be hurt or they just plain didn’t want you to succeed?

I remember a few years ago I was listening to Doctor Stan Harris and he shared this poem and I am sure it will motivate you a lot after reading it, so here it is.

DANGEROUS PEOPLE

The dangerous people are not the ones,

Who hit you with clubs and rob you with guns,

The people won’t attack your character traits

Or belittle your abilities to your face!

It likely will be a well meaning friend,

Who merely crashes your will to win!

No he doesn’t rob you or point a gun,

He simply says ‘It can’t be done’

When pointed to many who already are

He smiles and says they’re better than we are

Personality wise and abilities too,

They are way ahead of what others can do!

It matters not that his word is untrue,For you, for the others must know you!

So you’re robbed of your hopes, your dreams to succeed,

Robbed of the faith that made you believe

And left to doubt if you’ll ever achieve!!!

So the deadliest of people is not he with a gun,

But he or she who tells you, ‘It can’t be done’

For that taken by burglars can be gotten again

But nothing can replace your will to win!!!

Now that’s why you’re on sites like these. I don’t tell you what you can’t do but what you CAN DO!!! I believe in you and all that you stand for. Don’t allow anyone to steal that dream that is birthed inside you. Go To Work and Make It Real!!!
