How true! As young children most of us are fearless. We’re indestructible and can do everything. Are into everything. Experiment at every opportunity. Until Mum and Dad interfere. And instil fear. As we get older, we become more uncertain. Because now we’re in school and fear is reinforced by our teachers and others in authority. Our school mates are ‘falling into line’. Then we get a job and become even more ultra cautious. Because if we don’t follow the corporate code, we lose our job. The strait jacket of conformity gets tighter and tighter. Only a few Houdini like personalities truly break free. Just as 97% of murders are committed by someone the victim knows, this personal destruction is done by parents, friends and people in authority who we know. As in your poem. Again. How true!!!! How true!

As we get older, we become more uncertain. Because now we’re in school and fear is reinforced by our teachers and others in authority. Our school mates are ‘falling into line’.

Then we get a job and become even more ultra cautious. Because if we don’t follow the corporate code, we lose our job.
